Sachin Tendulkar Confered Rank of Group Captain

Sept 3, 2010, Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar added one more feather in his cap as he was conferred the Indian Air Force’s honorary rank of Group Captain due to his great achievements and contribution to the nation on the cricket field.

Setting more records, the little master became the first sportsperson and the first individual having no aviation background to be conferred a rank by the Indian Air Force.

In a ceremony held at Air Force auditorium in Delhi, Air Chief Marshal P V Naik inducted Sachin Tendulkar into the Air Force as its brand ambassador. Once captain of Indian cricket team, Sachin now will be known as Group Captain of IAF.

Sachin thanked IAF for showering this honor and said “It’s a great pleasure and honour to be honoured by IAF. It was wishful thinking and it has come true today. I’m extremely proud to be a part of IAF. I want to urge the youth to join air force and serve the nation. So dream, because dreams do come true.”

Tendulkar breaks Silence on Spot Fixing Row

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar today broke his silence and said that “ICC should make a thorough probe in the ’spot-fixing’ scandal
and take appropriate action if the players are found guilty. If the allegations are true, they will certainly bring disrepute to the game.

Sachin was speaking after the biggest cricket scandal hit world cricket when a bookie name Mazhar Majeed paid money to Pakistani palyers, Salman Butt Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir for bowling no balls during the Lord’s Test against England last week. All the three players have been suspended by ICC till investigation is complete.

When the topic of Indian hand in booking was raised, Tendulkar said, “In my 21 year of international cricket, I have never heard of an Indian player being approached by bookies.”

Sachin Tendulkar New Record – Maximum Number of Tests

The God Of Cricket has rewritten history once again today as he become topped the list of cricketers who have played the maximum number of Tests. Today India took Sri Lanka in the third test of the ongoing series and with this match, Tendulkar surpassed Australian Steve Waugh’s tally of 168 test matches.
